21-year-old man arrested, charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated burglary in connection with robbery and shooting on Brainerd Road
Chattanooga, TN – Police officials released a statement, stating that the 21-year-old man, later identified as Dedrrick Middlebrooks was arrested in connection with robbery and shooting that occurred on September 14, 2024, in the 5600 block of Brainerd Road.
On the evening of September 14, Chattanooga Police responded to a robbery in the parking lot of Chili’s restaurant. The victim had approached the suspect’s vehicle when, during the conversation, the suspect stole $700 and fled the scene in a white Honda.
The victim followed the suspect, while a witness in the victim’s vehicle called 911, providing a description of the suspect’s vehicle and its license plate number.
The suspect eventually drove to the 2100 block of South Lyerly Street, where he exited the vehicle and fired a shot at the victim, causing non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was later transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Through their investigation, the Robbery Unit traced the vehicle’s license plate and the suspect’s phone number back to Dedrrick Middlebrooks. A photo line-up confirmed his identity as the suspect.
Arrest warrants were obtained for charges including Attempted First Degree Murder, Aggravated Burglary, Felony Reckless Endangerment, and a firearm offense.
Middlebrooks was located and arrested earlier today on these outstanding warrants and transported to the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.
