I-24 at Germantown exit to close fully twice in June for roadwork, Chattanooga officials warn
Chattanooga, TN – The City of Chattanooga’s Public Works Department has issued a traffic advisory announcing two full closures of Interstate 24 at the Germantown exit this June.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation will carry out essential roadwork projects that will require significant detours and are expected to impact local traffic, especially in the days following the Juneteenth holiday.
The first closure will affect westbound I-24 just east of Germantown from Friday, June 20 at 9:00 p.m. through Monday, June 23 at 6:00 a.m. EDT. This closure is necessary for the installation of a new ramp east of Belvoir Avenue.
A second closure will take place on eastbound I-24 at Germantown from Friday, June 27 at 9:00 p.m. until Monday, June 30 at 6:00 a.m. EDT.
Both closures are weather dependent and will directly affect traffic on Chattanooga city streets. The Public Works Department encourages motorists to plan alternate routes, allow extra travel time, and watch for electronic message boards providing guidance during the closures.
Residents and commuters are urged to stay informed and adjust travel plans accordingly to minimize delays during the construction period.
