Overall improvement in employment across Tennessee, according to a report from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development
Chattanooga, TN – According to the state officials, the July employment report from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development indicates an overall improvement in employment across the state.
Out of 95 counties, 77 reported a decrease in unemployment rates from June, eight maintained the same rate, and 10 experienced an increase.
In July, 82 counties had unemployment rates below 5%, with 13 counties at or above this threshold.
Sevier and Williamson counties recorded the lowest jobless rates for the month at 2.5%, reflecting a 0.2 percentage point decrease from June.
Cheatham and Wilson counties followed with rates of 2.7%, with Cheatham dropping 0.1 percentage point and Wilson falling 0.2 percentage points.
Conversely, Weakley County saw a significant increase in unemployment, rising from 4.5% in June to 6.2% in July, marking the highest rate in the state.
