Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Police Department opened an internal investigation into one of its officers, assigned to the Neighborhood Policing Bureau, following charges of Simple Assault and Domestic Violence.

The investigation was triggered after CPD officers responded to an Assault in Progress call at a residence in the 3100 block of Mountain Creek Rd.

Upon arriving at the scene and determining the relationship between the two parties, CPD’s Special Victims Unit was called in to take over the investigation.

Preliminary findings indicate that Officer Chance Kuban and the victim had been involved in an ongoing verbal argument, which escalated through the night, resulting in Kuban damaging property and personal items.

Officer Kuban was arrested and charged with Simple Assault/Domestic Violence, Interfering with a 911 call, and Vandalism. He was transported to the Hamilton County Jail and placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
