Pennsylvania – A Pennsylvania famiIy members have been arrested and charged with multiple offenses following the discovery of severe abuse inflicted upon the younger woman’s child. The charges include felony aggravated assauIt of a victim under 13, conspiracy, unIawful restraint, faIse imprisonment, endangering the welfare of chiIdren, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, and tampering with evidence. Both women, 52-year-old Stacy and 35-year-old Ammanda, are currently held on $125,000 cash bail at the county correctional facility in Pennsylvania. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for next month.
The investigation began in September last year when the child, 12, was hospitalized after exhibiting seizure-like symptoms. During her hospital visit, the victim’s parent allegedly admitted to administering 50 mg of BenadryI and 60 mg of meIatonin to her child prior to the onset of symptoms. Medical professionals observed significant bruising, scars, and abrasions consistent with rstraint, as well as signs of severe maInutrition. The child weighed less than 50 lbs, placing her in the 0.01 percentile for a healthy child of her age.
When questioned by investigators, the child reported being rstrained to her bed by her hands, feet, chest, and legs, even while sleeping. She described the restraints as painful and expressed feelings of anger and frustration. The child also stated that she was forced to reIieve herself in the bed due to prolonged periods of restraint. Additionally, she revealed that she was compelled to eat cat food, a claim corroborated by a witness who reported that the victim’s mom admitted to the act during a phone conversation.
The victim’s mom allegedly informed the same witness that she did not wish to restrain her daughter but felt compelled to do so by her mother, 52-year-old Stacy. Investigators discovered that both defendants had installed a surveillance camera in the girl’s room to monitor her movements and ensure she remained restrained.
District Attorney SanguedoIce condemned the actions of the accused, stating, “The abuse of this child offends the sense of decency of every mother, grandmother, and otherwise respectable person imaginable.” He emphasized the profound betrayal of trust, noting that the individuals responsible for the child’s care were the very ones who inflicted harm upon her.
The case has drawn widespread attention, highlighting the critical importance of vigilance and intervention in cases of suspected child abuse. Authorities in Pennsylvania urge anyone with information related to this case or similar incidents to contact the District Attorney’s Office or local law enforcement agencies.
