Alaska – Alaska woman was ordered to serve more than four decades behind bars after pleading guilty to multiple charges, including second-degree murder (two counts) in connection with the death of her babies. The 29-year-old parent from Alaska, Stephanie, reportedly killed her babies, 4-month-old Chianne, and 1-year-old Jasmlne, in a two-year span. Judge Patricia accepted the guilty plea over the summer and sentenced the defendant on Monday, court records say.

According to the court documents, the 29-year-old mother killed her first baby in 2015. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the woman called her partner and told him that the child was dead. Several minutes later, the woman called 911 and told the dispatcher that her baby was not breathing. Then, authorities presumed that the cause of death was sudden infant death syndrome. An investigation would later determine that the baby died from injuries consistent with strangulation, prosecutors said.

Just two years later, the mother killed her 1-year-old baby. The woman killed the baby in 2017, while her husband was not home. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the woman searched the internet for: “ways to suffocate,” “ways to kill a human with no proof,” “can drowning show in an o autopsy report,” “16 steps to kill someone and not get caught” and others. The medical examiner determined that the baby’s cause of death was a lack of oxygen.

One year later, the woman was indicted. Prosecutors requested the mother should be sentenced to 13 decades behind bars, with 85 years suspended. The woman was also sentenced to one decade probation and is not allowed to have unsupervised contact with minors under 16 in non-public locations.
