Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Police Department arrested 26-year-old Dejuan Rowland on December 17, 2024, in the 6900 block of Delbert Lane. Rowland was taken into custody on outstanding warrants for first-degree murder related to a homicide earlier this month.

On December 1, 2024, at approximately 12:05 p.m., Chattanooga police responded to a report of a shooting in the 6600 block of Green Road. Upon arrival, officers found a 17-year-old male with life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.

During the investigation, detectives determined that Rowland had been at the residence with the victim and the victim’s mother. Both the mother and her son repeatedly asked Rowland to leave the residence. After stepping outside, Rowland attempted to re-enter through another door. When the victims tried to prevent him from coming inside, Rowland fired multiple shots through the door, fatally wounding the teenager.

The Chattanooga Police Department’s Homicide Unit secured warrants for Rowland’s arrest on charges of first-degree murder. Since then, CPD’s Fugitive Unit, the United States Marshals Smoky Mountain Fugitive Task Force, and the DEA have worked collaboratively to locate him. Investigative resources led to his arrest on December 17. Rowland was transported to the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.

This investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have noted that the information released so far is preliminary and subject to change. Officials also emphasized that the charges against Rowland are accusations at this stage. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty through due process of law.
