Firefighters rescued trapped driver after multi-vehicle crash involving school bus
Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga firefighters rescued an injured driver early Wednesday morning after a multi-vehicle crash involving a school bus on Middle Valley Road near the city-county line.
The Chattanooga Fire Department responded at 6:25 a.m. to the 6500 block of Middle Valley Road for a motor vehicle crash with entrapment.
Crews found a vehicle off the road in the woods with the driver pinned inside. A Hamilton County school bus carrying students was also involved in the incident.
None of the children were injured, and firefighters ensured the bus was stabilized. Hamilton County EMS checked on the students before they were transferred to another bus brought to the scene.
Firefighters then focused on freeing the trapped driver, removing the crushed driver’s side of the vehicle to extricate the patient. The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Engine 11, Squad 7, Squad 13, Battalion 2, and Battalion 3 Red Shift responded to the scene, along with other public safety agencies. Law enforcement is investigating the cause of the crash.
