CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a commercial structure fire Wednesday afternoon involving a building that was in the process of being demolished.
Fire crews were dispatched at 2:17 p.m. on April 22, 2026, to the 1400 block of East 37th Street after reports of a fire on the roof of the structure.
Officials said a demolition company had been using a torch on-site when a spark reportedly ignited material inside a hopper box, causing the interior lining to catch fire.
Firefighters from Green Shift companies extinguished the flames using an aerial master stream.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident. Photos and video of the response were credited to Battalion Chief Chris LaFerry.
