Chattanooga Fire Department responds to overnight woods fire at Stringers Ridge Park, fire contained after extended operation
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Chattanooga Fire Department spent overnight hours working to contain a woods fire at Stringers Ridge Park following multiple 911 reports of visible flames and smoke.
Crews were dispatched at 11:43 p.m. on April 22, 2026, to the area of 898 High Ridge Drive, where officials confirmed approximately one acre of land was burning.
The Tennessee Division of Forestry also responded and worked alongside Chattanooga firefighters to establish fire breaks using equipment including leaf blowers. Additional Forestry units later arrived to assist with operations.
As the response expanded, fire command requested additional resources, including Mini Pumper 17 and Tanker 16. Once all units were on scene, crews began water shuttle operations to suppress the fire.
Officials said the steep and uneven terrain required firefighters to use handlines from multiple directions to contain the blaze. After an extended effort, the fire was brought under control around 6 a.m. on April 23.
Authorities noted that a fire break remains in place in the area and advised residents that smoldering and light smoke may continue for some time, which is normal following wildfires.
