Detroit, MI – According to the police officials. the 47-year-old man, later identified as Devereau, was arrested and later charged with first-degree murder, felon in possession of a weapon and other charges after he reportedly shot 35-year-old Natan. The fatal incident occurred following an argument with the younger man after one of the victim’s children reportedly touched the ground cover in the shooter’s yard.

The fatal incident occurred over the weekend while the victim and his family, wife and two young children, were walking down the street. At one moment, the shooter started an argument with the victim only to pull out his gun and shoot the man several times. The husband and father-of-two was unarmed, police officials say.

Right before he shot the 35-year-old victim, the shooter threatened the family. The father then told his children and wife to go inside in an attempt to calm down the situation, but was shot and killed. The responding officers found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

When police arrived, the suspect barricaded himself inside his home. But, after several orders to surrender, Johnson walked out of his house. He entered a not guilty plea, court records say. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the fatal shooting occurred because one of the victim’s children touched the ground cover in the Devereau’s yard. The prosecutor’s office is asking for a competency hearing for Johnson. He’s due back in court on Aug. 23. The victim’s family launched a fundraiser to collect money for funeral expenses.
