Chattanooga, TN – According to the health officials, the state’s department of health added there were 1,069 people in the Intensive Care Units.

The Tennessee Department of Health says that 744 of those patients are on ventilators.

Ten-percent of hospital floor beds were available, totaling 1,101, along with five-percent of ICU beds, which equates to 107.

Gov. Lee signed an Executive Order allowing for hospital staffing flexibility and deployed the National Guard to assist where they’re needed.

The National Guard soldiers are supporting medical centers across the state to help alleviate some of the stress caused by COVID.

The soldiers are filling jobs in hospitals as they deal with massive surges of sick COVID patients.

The staffing struggles are expected to continue as the state is breaking daily hospitalization records.
