Man became enraged when his former girlfriend decided to go back to her former spouse before he told his co-worker he would increase his salary to kill the man, even providing the murder weapon; sentenced
Louisville, KY – According to the court documents, the 40-year-old defendant, later identified as Fredy, was sentenced to four decades behind bars after pleading guilty to multiple charges, including possessing a firearm as part of a conspiracy to commit a murder-for-hire in connection with the death of his former girlfriend’s former husband. Prosecutors claim the victim, 43-year-old Brian, was shot to death by the defendant’s co-worker, Xavlor, who pleaded guilty last week and was sentenced to 35 years behind bars.
The fatal shooting occurred in December 2020, court records say. During the trial, prosecutors said the defendant offered his co-defendant couple thousand dollars, a vehicle and a raise at work, because he was his manager. When Xavlor agreed, Fredy reportedly provided the gun used in the killing. On the day of the shooting, friend of Xavlor drove the man to the victim’s home. Xavlor then knocked on the door only to shoot the victim multiple times when he answered.
Prosecutors said the motive for the fatal shooting was the defendant’s former girlfriend, who is also the victim’s former wife. The woman, who was not identified, began dating the defendant in 2020 after divorcing from her husband two years earlier. The woman broke with the defendant 9 months, but the defendant refused to leave the woman alone. During the next several months, the woman reportedly started seeing her former husband. The defendant even placed a tracking device on the woman’s vehicle and followed her.
When the woman decided to get back together with her husband, the defendant became enraged and threatened to kill the victim. Shortly after, he offered a raise to his co-worker and two thousand dollars to kill the man. When the younger man agreed, the defendant provided map of the victim’s home and gave him the address. Authorities initially arrested Fredy on stalking charges, only for him to call his co-defendant to remind him that ‘all they talked about was cleaning the cafe’. Authorities then took his co-defendant into custody and found the map of the victim’s home, which was hand-drawn.
