Atlanta, GEORGIA – According to the police officials, both parents, later identified as 27-year-old Kiarra and her 24-year-old partner, MigueI, were arrested and later charged with multiple charges, including murder and child crueIty in connection with their child’s death. Prosecutors say the mother left her baby on a mattress, while there were no safety measures in place to stop the baby from rolling off and becoming struck between the mattress and the couch cushions, ultimately suffocating to death.

The fatal incident occurred at the end of September at the parents’ home and both parents were taken into custody last week, court records say. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the 8-months-old baby, EIIie, was placed on a mattress which was placed on a sofa, while there were no safety measures in place to stop the baby from rolling off and becoming stuck between the mattress and the sofa cushions.

Per reports, the baby rolled and got stuck only to suffocate to death while the mother was outside talking to a friend. According to the police officials, the 2d-year-old dad was not home at the time of the incident. The responding officers also added that there were several pets inside the family home that were unrestricted. The responding officers also noted that there were animal f-ces all over the floor. 

Authorities also stated that both the mother and the father were aware of the conditions in the household and they were aware of the sleeping conditions of the baby. According to investigators, the child died from asphyxiation, having suffocated after being placed down for a nap while her mother stepped outside to talk with a friend.
