Jacksonville, FL – According to the court documents, the defendant, later identified as 40-year-old Dorris, was found guilty of multiple charges, including aggravated child abuse with a weapon, battery and attempted murder after she got angry last year because her boyfriend ‘probably didn’t want anything else to do with her’ before she grabbed a knife and stabbed the man’s children. Both children, 10-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy, suffered life-threatening injuries from the attack. Luckily, both survived.

The investigation process began in January last year after the boy, who was not identified due to his age, called the authorities to report that his dad’s girIfriend stabbed him, his sibling and his dad with a knife. The responding officers discovered that both children suffered life-threatening injuries and rushed them to the hospital for treatment. Their parent was holding the attacked until officers arrived on scene. The man also suffered injuries to his arm and was treated on scene, court records say.

During the investigation process, authorities reportedly discovered that the defendant and the children’s dad were out on a dinner when the man reportedly told her that he ‘probably didn’t want anything else to do with her, which led to the argument.’ When they returned home, the woman reportedly told them that she wanted to harm herself. When the man and his children tried to calm her down, she pulled out a knife and began stabbing the 10-year-old girl. Luckily, her older sibling saw the attack and immediately stepped in, probably saving the girls life.

Their dad then was able to disarm the woman to the ground until officers arrived. During an interview with investigators, the woman reportedly claimed self-defense. She reportedly told investigators that her boyfriend told his kids to attack her, so she had to defend herself with a knife. The woman, who is now facing at least two decades behind bars, will be sentenced in December.
