Atlanta, GA – According to the court documents, the young mom, later identified as 26-year-old MaIisha, was sentenced to life in prison plus 2 decades for her role in the 2023 death of her young son after jury found her guilty on multiple charges, including murder, crueIty to children and aggravated battery. Prosecutors claim the little boy was beaten to death by his mom who reportedly regularly beat the boy because he was vvetting his bed or had accidents during the day.

The investigation began last year in February after the 911 called told the dispatcher about an unresponsive 4-year-old boy. The responding officers found the little boy not breathing. The 4-year-old was rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. During an initial interview with investigators, the boy’s mom, who was the only adult in her home when the boy died, reportedly said that her son told her he had a headache before he went back to sleep.

During the same day, one of the boy’s siblings reportedly found the boy and told him mom that his sibling is cold to the touch. The medical examiner told investigators that the boy’s cause of death was blunt force trauma to his head. The boy had severe injuries all over his face and body. The autopsy also revealed that the boy’s fatal injury was inflicted around 5-6 hours before he died.

When questioned about the fatal injury, the mom reportedly told investigators that she didn’t know how it happened. During the investigation process, authorities also discovered texts exchanged between the mother and the boy’s dad which stated that the woman beat her son regularly because the boy had accident’s during the day or was vveting his bed. The boy’s dad was indicted on the same charges, court records say.
