Houston, TX – According to the court documents, the young mom, later identified as 22-year-old GabrieIa, was arrested and formally charged on Friday for her role in her 2-month-old baby’s death last year. The parent, who is now charged with murder, reportedly left her baby in her vehicle for several hours while she went to her appointment at a mentaI heaIth clinic, court records say.

After 3 hours, the woman returned to her vehicle only to discover that her baby, Etthan, was not breathing. The mother then brought the baby inside the building and called for help. First responders pronounced the baby dead at the scene. His temperature was 108 degrees, officials say. During the investigation process, authorities reportedly discovered that the mother reportedly brought her older son, 3, and her 2-month-old baby with her to her appointment. When the mother exited the vehicle, she only took her older son and left the baby in the vehicle.

During several interviews with authorities, the woman reportedly gave multiple different stories about what happened. She initially said that she took her baby out of the vehicle, then confessed that she never removed him. The woman then said that her older son was with her, but didn’t know where her baby was.  The woman also told investigators that her vehicle and the AC were on the entire time while she was inside, but when she returned to the vehicle several hours later, the vehicle was not running.

In a follow-up interview, the woman reportedly admitted that the car was not running when she left the car. The woman also told authorities that she thought her baby was with her mom. The defendant’s mother reportedly told authorities that ‘she offered to watch the kids, but her daughter declined.’ The 22-year-old mom is being held on $50,000 bond.
