Tennessee – The Tennessee Department of Transportation is urging residents to participate in the Nobody Trashes Tennessee campaign to help keep Tennessee’s roadways and waterways clean.

TDOT’s initiative encourages individuals to take responsibility for preventing litter and preserving the state’s natural beauty.

Deputy Governor and TDOT Commissioner Butch Eley emphasized the importance of the campaign, stating, “Litter detracts from Tennessee’s natural beauty and has harmful impacts on safety, the environment, and the economy.”

He encouraged everyone to participate in the Great American Cleanup, a nationwide event that coincides with Keep Tennessee Beautiful Month in March.

Through local affiliates, TDOT’s litter prevention partners organize cleanup events across the state. Additionally, residents can organize their own community cleanups and access support such as safety tips and supplies.

Participants can earn points through TDOT’s Trash Masters Rewards program, which can be redeemed for rewards and discounts.

Youth groups, including Scouts, can earn exclusive patches for completing cleanup service projects. Educational resources, such as scavenger hunt worksheets, are available online to help keep the momentum going.

Tennesseans are encouraged to take simple actions to reduce litter, including picking up litter they encounter and securing trash during outdoor activities. By working together, communities can make a lasting impact on the state’s environmental health.
