Tennessee – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will present its proposed recommendations for the 2025-26 hunting and trapping seasons during the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission’s meeting on Friday, March 21, at Buffalo Ridge Refuge in Humphreys County.

The meeting, which will begin at 9 a.m., will feature presentations from key TWRA officials, including Wildlife and Forestry Chief Joe Benedict, Assistant Chief of Game Management Mark McBride, and Assistant Chief of Habitat Management Wally Akins. A vote on these proposals will take place during the TFWC’s April 24-25 meeting in Nashville.

In addition to the season recommendations, the meeting will include notable recognitions. TWRA Wildlife Forester Damon Hollis will be honored with the Joe Kurz Wildlife Manager of the Year Award for his exceptional stewardship of wild turkey populations and habitat, an accolade presented at the recent National Wild Turkey Federation Convention.

Additionally, Sumner County Wildlife Officer Montana Michelson will be introduced to the Commission and recognized for receiving the National Wild Turkey Federation’s Wildlife Officer of the Year award, as well as the Shikar Safari Officer Award.

The meeting will also mark the first for Chris Devaney as the newly elected Chairman for the 2025-26 term. Other officers elected during the February meeting include Vice Chairman Greg Davenport and Secretary Rhonda Moody.
