The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has reported one boating-related fatality over the 2024 Memorial Day holiday weekend

Chattanooga, TN – According to the state officials, the fatality took place on Watts Barr Reservoir, where a 19-year-old male jumped from a boat and failed to resurface.
Authorities were alerted shortly after 9 p.m., and his body was recovered from 24 feet of water just after 2 a.m. on Sunday, with TWRA officers and local agencies employing a remote-operated vehicle in the search.
The incident is currently under investigation.
This marks the eighth boating fatality of the year.
In addition to the fatality, five injury incidents were reported statewide, with eight property damage incidents recorded, five of which occurred in the Middle Tennessee region.
