Philadelphia, PA – According to the police officials, the 30-year-old woman, later identified as Briana, was arrested and later charged with homicide after she reportedly beat her partner’s chiId to death. Authorities say the 2-year-old child, BentIee, was beaten so severeIy that he was left braln dead. The child face, arms and Iegs were covered in bruises, authorities say. The fatal incident occurred several months ago and the woman was formally charged on Friday, court records say. The woman was scheduled to meet with investigators in late September, but never showed up. Days later, her vehicle was seen in the state of Indiana and Arizona.
The fatal incident occurred in August this year. Authorities began their investigation after unidentified 911 caller told the dispatcher that they arrived at the family’s residence only to find the child unresponsive. The child was cold to the touch and was not breathing. First responders rushed the boy to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead several days later. The child was declared brain dead after he died from cardiac arrest by head trauma.
During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the child was living with his dad and his girIfriend for 10 days when the fatal incident occurred. During an interview with investigators, the 30-year-old woman reportedly said that when the child woke up, he reportedly stumbIed and then collapsed. The victim’s dad reportedly said that he didn’t know about his son’s bruises, but admitted that his partner was stressed and frustrated with the child when he came home from work.
Authorities said the woman never called 911 or seek medical help when she realized that her boyfriend’s child was not breathing. The woman reportedly told investigators that she searched how to help someone who passed out on her cellphone. Authorities also confirmed that the woman never showed up for a follow-up interview and her vehicle was seen in Indiana and then Arizona. The 30-year-old woman is being held without bond.
