Boy ‘never really had a chance in life’ after his mom, who has been a drug addict for most of his life, allowed him to do drugs, often bought him alcohol and left him alone for weeks until he overdsed; mother charged

Oklahoma – Oklahoma woman was taken into custody and later charged with child neglect in connection with her son’s death. Prosecutors said the boy died of drug overdose after the parent, 44-year-old L. HenckeI, left the 15-year-old alone for weeks and allowed him to do drugs and drink alcohol. Police officials released a statement, saying that the boy ‘never really had a chance in life’ after the woman failed as a parent since her son was born. 

Prosecutors released a statement, saying that there were two dozen referrals to Oklahoma‘s Department of Human Services over concerns about her treatment of her son, Caiden. Last week, authorities responded to the woman’s home only to find the boy unresponsive in his bed. The boy was rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead several days later. The medical examiner told investigators that the boy died of drug overdose. 

During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the 44-year-old has been a drug addict for most of her son’s life. Prosecutors said that when the boy was just 10-years-old, he reportedly told Oklahoma‘s Department of Human Services’ employees that his mom would go and buy drugs, then refused to go to the doctor because she was afraid she would test positive for meth. Several months later, the Department of Human Service was contacted again, now because the child didn’t have any food in his home for months while his mom was ‘couch surfing’ with friends.

According to the police officials, the mother was the one who found her son unresponsive. During an interview with investigators, the woman reportedly said that she left her son at their home earlier this month so she could do drugs with friends. When the woman came home several hours later, she tried to open the front door, but was locked. The woman then climbed the window, because her son wasn’t answering his phone, and found him unresponsive in his bedroom. 

The 44-year-old mom also told authorities that she knew her child was using drugs, even tried meth. The victim’s girlfriend, who was not identified, reportedly told investigators that he didn’t have any supervision and was allowed to do anything he wants. According to her, he was allowed to drink alcohol every day, even his mom provided drinks and drugs for the boy. The 44-year-old parent, who is being held on $100,000 bond, was often seen high on meth by her neigbor and her son was always hungry because he didn’t have anything to eat.
