Atlanta, GA – According to the police officials, the 47-year-old, later identified as Kennton, was arrested and later charged with multiple charges, including murder in the second degree, cruelty to children, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and other charges in connection with his 1-year-old baby’s death. The dad reportedly claims that after falling asleep with his 1-year-old baby on the sofa, the child walked up two fIights of stairs, turned on the faucet to the bathtub only to eventually drown.

The fatal incident occurred earlier this month. The investigation process began after the father called 911 and told the dispatcher that 1-year-old child was not responsive. The first responders attempted to revive the child, but were unsuccessful. During an initial interview with investigators, the baby’s dad reportedly said that he fell asleep on the sofa with his child sleeping on his chest, along with the baby’s older sibling, who remained on the sofa.

The parent also told authorities that a friend woke him up and he realized the child was gone. After they reportedly found the child in the bathroom, they called the authorities. During the same interview, the parent also stated that his child reportedly walked up two fIights of stairs, climbed into the bathtub, and turned the water to the tub on and drowned.

The responding officers searched the father’s home and found iIIegal drugs under the pillows where both children slept. Weapons were also found inside the residence and the suspect is not supposed to be around guns because he is a convicted felon.
