New Orleans, LA – According to the police officials, the 25-year-old mom, later identified as AIiyah, was arrested in Mississippi and is expected to be extradited to her home state for her role in the death of her 4-year-old child and for leaving her 1-year-old baby all alone for 2 days. Police officials said the 1-year-old baby, KlngtraiI, was reportedly discovered crawling beside an interstate highway. Authorities say it was a miracIe that the baby was still alive.

Authorities released a statement, saying that the young mom was initially charged with faiIure to report a missing child, but is now charged with second-degree murder and child cruelty as well. The investigation process began on Monday when authorities found the body for the 4-year-old boy, Leggend, floating in the Iake.

The child was identified as AIiyah’s son when authorities were alerted by the mother’s family member, who reportedly told them that they last saw the children with their mother on Saturday, two days before the body was found in the lake. On Tuesday, authorities were alerted about a 1-year-old baby found crawling beside an interstate highway. The responding officers rushed the baby to the hospital and discovered that, despite being covered in insect bites, the 1-year-old was in good condition after spending two days alone in stormy weather.

Authorities released a statement, saying that an autopsy will reportedly reveal if the 4-year-old  drowned or if he was dead before he ended up in the water. Sheriff Stitch reportedly said: “We look at this 1-year-old as our miracle baby because he was still alive. The crazy part was that the storm had provided cloud cover and rain, keeping the heat down. And we honestly feel that helped him to survive these last two days out there.” The mom’s mother and children’s grandmother, ConsweIa, reportedly told local news outlet that she couldn’t tell why her daughter would harm her children. The older woman also said she had recently been caring for the boys while daughter fell on hard times and tried to get back on her feet.
