Chattanooga, TN – Tennessee State Parks invites visitors to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday weekend with special events. On November 28, eight parks will host Thanksgiving meals, and even more parks will offer Day After Thanksgiving hikes on November 29.

Thanksgiving Meals

Thanksgiving is a time for family and good food, but it can also be stressful with all the cooking and cleaning. This year, let Tennessee State Parks take care of the meal so you can focus on spending quality time with loved ones. Parks will offer traditional Thanksgiving meals featuring holiday staples and southern favorites.

Day After Thanksgiving Hikes

On November 29, many Tennessee State Parks will host Day After Thanksgiving hikes. With options ranging from easy strolls to more challenging treks, these hikes are designed for all ages and skill levels. Whether you choose a guided hike or a self-guided adventure, Tennessee’s parks provide a great way to find space for reflection and gratitude.

Some hike highlights include:

  • Mousetail Landing State Park: Learn about the history of the Tennessee River and its port locations.
  • Cedars of Lebanon State Park: Enjoy a walk on the new paved ADA trail.
  • Savage Gulf State Park: A seven-mile trek for more experienced hikers.
  • Dunbar Cave State Park: Explore how the landscape has been shaped by different cultures over the centuries.
  • Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park: A one-mile woodland loop, with an optional advanced route for experienced hikers.
  • Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park: Take a tour highlighting Tennessee’s rich history.

Some parks also offer special events, such as:

  • Pickwick Landing State Park: Pre-Gobble Wobble on Thanksgiving Day and After-Feast Stroll the same day.
