Man told police he ‘knew he had to kill’ the person he just met after the victim told him that he once set someone on fire while having a conversation about their desire to kill; charged
Nevada – A Nevada man, later identified as 19-year-old Joshya, was taken into custody and later charged with multiple charges, including murder with a deadly weapon after he reportedly killed a man earlier this week. Authorities in Nevada released a statement, saying the defendant killed a man he just met because ‘he knew he had to kill him’ after the victim reportedly told him that he once set someone on fire.
The fatal shooting occurred earlier this week outside a Iiquor store. The investigation process began after the 911 caller told the dispatcher that someone needed help. First responders found the victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. The victim, whose body was covered with a sheet, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been publicly disclosed.
Witness told investigators that the 19-year-old man shot the victim to death. He was arrested shortly after. During an interview with investigators, the defendant reportedly said that his thoughts about killing someone grew intense, especially when he was drunk. The night before he killed the man, the defendant got intoxicated and decided to steal money from his mom and dad. The following day, he tried to withdraw money from the account, but was unsuccessful.
At the location, he reportedly saw people wearing white clothes and believed they were following him. He then returned home, grabbed a gun and came back to the location. There, he made contact with the victim because he was wearing white clothes. The defendant asked the victim if he saw anyone else around, but the victim said no, KLAS reported.
Shortly after, both men began walking together and started a conversation. During the conversation, the 19-year-old shooter reportedly told the victim that he wanted to kill someone. The unidentified victim reportedly replied that he had that feeling before and that he once set someone on fire.
During an interview with investigators, the defendant reportedly said that after the victim told him that, he ‘knew he had to kill him.’ He then told the victim that he will go inside the store to get a drink before walking behind him and shooting him in the head, killing him. The 19-year-old man is being held without bond and his next court appearance is scheduled for April.
