South Carolina – A South Carolina man was ordered to serve five decades behind bars after pleading guilty to homicide by child abuse and admitting to causing his child’s death last year. The 35-year-old man, WiIbur, reportedly killed his 4-year-old child, H-H0pe, in February last year.

The 4-year-old victim was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition, unresponsive, and suffering from severe burns covering approximately half of her body. Medical examinations revealed that she had no brain activity due to the extent of her injuries. She was taken off life support and pronounced dead shortly after.

Authorities in South Carolina uncovered that the father had subjected his child to a scaIding hot bath as a form of punishment due to issues related to potty training. He held her down in the water, causing immediate first-degree burns. The incident was witnessed by the girl’s younger and older siblings, who later provided forensic interviews detailing the abuse they had observed.

Following the incident, the father reportedly withheld medical care for the child for approximately 24 hours while she remained unresponsive. He later admitted during a law enforcement interview that he had placed his daughter in the bathtub and acknowledged failing her.

When the child was taken off life support, two days after her arrival a the hospital, her parents weren’t there. Instead, police investigators were there so the little girl wouldn’t be alone when she passed away.

The father was charged with homicide by child abuse and, upon pleading guilty, was sentenced to five decades in the South Carolina Department of Corrections. Circuit Court Judge TayIor presided over the case, emphasizing the severity of the crime and the profound loss experienced by the community.

The case has drawn significant attention, with community members expressing outrage over the circumstances surrounding the child’s death. Sheriff Lot commented on the incident, stating, “There’s a special place in hell for the parents who do this to their children.”

The parent’s other three children were removed from the home by the Department of Social Services and provided investigators with information about the abuse their sibling endured.

The victim’s mother, Fiffi, has also been implicated in the case, with charges pending against her as investigations continue. This case serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of child abuse and the importance of vigilance within communities to protect vulnerable children.
