Houston, TX – According to the court documents, the 38-year-old parent from Texas, later identified as GIoria, was sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to causing serious bodily injury by omission in connection with her child’s death. Prosecutors say the defendant allowed her husband, 34-year-old Briian, to beat her child, Kenndrick, to death then forced her other three children to live with the victim’s decmposing body for more than a year.
The defendant’s partner was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after he was convicted of first-degree murder. Before she was sentenced, the 38-year-old mom reportedly told the court that she regrets allowing her children to live with her child’s decmposing body, but said she did so to keep them away from her husband. During the sentencing, prosecutors said while she ‘questioned her partner’s abuse toward her children, she still showed her love for him’.
The investigation process began in 2021 after the victim’s sibling called 911 and told the dispatcher that he and his younger siblings were living with their dead sibling for a whole year. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the mother’s husband beat the boy to death before covering his body with a bIanket and then leaving the apartment.
The couple moved to another apartment only to leave the woman’s 3 children with their sibling’s body. The victim’s sibling told investigators that he witnessed how her mom’s husband beat their brother until the victim’s eyes stopped blinking. Only the boy’s skeletal remains were found when police arrived at the home after the victim’s sibling called 911.
