Man claims his date ‘jumped out of bed, pulled the IV out of her arm and told him let’s go’ while at the hospital receiving treatment for overdose on the drugs he provided, only for him to drive her home where she died; charged
Houston, TX – Texas man, later identified as 26-year-old Erik, is now charged with fentanyI murder by delivery after authorities took him into custody last week and charged him in the death of 24-year-old Erika, who died earlier this year after overdosing from the drugs the defendant provided. The lawyer, Mark, said the charges against his client is ridiculous because the fatal incident was reportedly a ‘tragic accident and not a crime’. The investigation process began earlier this year after the woman failed to answer her phone and never arrived at work. Her friends told investigators that the woman went out with the defendant and never arrived at work the following day.
The fatal incident occurred in August 3, court records say. During the investigation process, the victim’s friend told investigators that the 24-year-old woman overdosed and went to the ER for an apparent fentanyI overdose. The defendant reportedly drove the woman to the hospital. Authorities then made contact with the defendant, who reportedly told that after the visit to the hospital, her reportedly took the victim back to her apartment because she requested.
During an interview with investigators, the defendant reportedly said that he went to a bar with the victim and another co-worker where he offered drugs to the victim. The victim initially refused the offer only to later accept it after the defendant put the powder on her phone. According to the defendant, the powder was ‘straight fentanyI’. Several hours later, while the duo was walking to the car, the victim stopped talking and lost consciousness. The defendant then told investigators that he attempted CPR before driving the woman to the local hospital .
There, the woman reportedly received treatment and woke up several hours later. According to the defendant, the woman reportedly told him that ‘she doesn’t want to be here and asked the doctors if she could leave’. Shortly after, the woman reportedly jumped out of bed, pulled the IV needle out of her and told the defendant ‘let’s go’. The defendant then drove the woman to her apartment before driving home. The defendant’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 4, 2025, court records show.
