Los Angeles, CA – According to the court documents, the 22-year-old mother, later identified as Maciie, was sentenced to 33 years to life behind bards after she killed her 2-year-old child last year. Prosecutors said the woman was sentenced last week after she pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and kidnapping several months earlier.
The fatal incident occurred in January last year after the mother called 911 and told the dispatcher that her daughter was not breathing. The responding officers found the child, unresponsive in the parent’s vehicle, and rushed her to the local hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead. The medical examiner reportedly told investigators that more than 10 different prescrlption medications were found in the child’s system.
The mother was arrested following 7 month investigation. During the investigation process, authorities reportedly discovered that the mother gave her daughter multiple piIIs on purpose. Authorities also discovered that the child was deliberately provided and given access to prescription medication by her mother. Right before the child died, the mother knew that her daughter consumed multiple medlcations and was displaying symptoms of overdosage. Instead of taking her to the hospital or providing medical help, the mother decided to take the child to a rural area and prevented her from receiving help.
During an initial interview with investigators, the young mom reportedly said the child opened the medlcation bottles by herself. During the investigation process, the mother even tried to fkae her own death. She reportedly got a fake ID, new phone number and even left a letter. When she was arrested, she reportedly told investigators that she was ‘depressed because the girl’s dad was in prison’. Authorities have not yet released a motive for the murder, court records say.
