Arizona – An Arizona woman was sentenced to 3 sentences of life in prison, to be served one after another after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors. The plea agreement reportedly took capital punishment off the table for 27-year-old RacheI, who reportedly killed her three children five years ago at the family home.
According to the court documents, the young mother was living with her family member at the time she killed each of her children, two babies and 3-year-old boy before wrapping each child’s body in a blanket as if to give the impression they were asleep.
The investigation process began in January 2020 after the 911 caller told the dispatcher that they need medical assistance for three unresponsive children. All three victims, 3-year-old Zame, 1-year-old Maraya and 7-month-old Catalaya were pronounced dead at the scene.
During the investigation process, authorities learned the defendant was playing a game with her three children before noticing her 1-year-old daughter had difficulties breathing. The woman then covered the baby’s mouth with her hand. The woman’s 3-year-old son tried to stop his mother by punching her, but couldn’t stop her.
The woman then chased the child around the home before she killed him in the same way. Authorities in Arizona said the woman used the same method to kill the infant as well. The 27-year-old mom then placed all children in bed like they were sleeping.
According to the woman’s attorney, the 27-year-old defendant wants to make up for her crimes by spending the rest of her life in prison. According to the attorney, the 27-year-old mother can’t explain it or remember it herself in any articulable way that makes sense.
