Detroit, MI – The 38-year-old parent from Michigan is now facing more than 3 decades behind bars after jury found her guilty of multiple charges, including child abuse and unlawful desertion of child, after she abandoned her baby on a beach in Florida last year. The investigation process began after the defendant’s sibling, who was not identified due to his age, called the authorities and said that the woman sent the baby somewhere, telling him that she left the baby with his dad, but the boy who called 911 wanted evidence.

According to the court documents, the investigation process began in November last year after the baby’s sibling called 911 and told the dispatcher what his parent did. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the woman walked down a beach in Florida, around midnight, only to leave her baby and leave 5 minutes later. Luckily, the baby was saved by a passerby, who reportedly told investigators that the child was in the water on his hands and knees and the waves were already over his head. The 1-year-old child was found unresponsive and cold to the touch.

First responders rushed the baby to the hospital. When the baby arrived on scene, doctors realized that the child had difficulty breathing and elevated pulse. Luckily, he survived the incident and made a full recovery. The child’s sibling called officers, concerned about his baby brother, and said that the parent claimed she had given the boy to the child’s father.

Authorities also interviewed the boy who called 911, who reportedly said that ‘he told his parent to give him proof because he knew the woman was having little episodes lately’. One month after the boy called 911, all his siblings, including him and the baby, were placed in the foster care system by Florida’s Department of Children and Families. Several weeks later, the children were placed in their grandparent’s custody.
