Every season has its perks, but winter is definitely our least favorite. It’s just so cold! And that cold brings way too many inconveniences with it. One of those is definitely a frozen windshield on your car. Many people own handy covers to prevent their windshields from freezing over, but it’s a little too easy to forget to put on that cover. Luckily, there’s a very easy trick to defrost your windshield!

Before we get to our super easy trick, it’s important to note that you should never pour hot water onto your frozen windshield! It might seem like a logical solution, but hot water can actually cause the shield to break. That’s not what you want!

You could heat your car and let that heat up the window, but that costs a lot of gas – and time. The ice scraper is another time-consuming method, while all you want when it’s freezing outside is to get into your warm car. With this trick, you’ll only have to be outside for a few seconds!

All you need for this trick is a simple spray bottle, some water and rubbing alcohol (also called isopropyl). Mix together 1/3 of water and 2/3 of rubbing alcohol and pour it into the spray bottle. That’s all you need to defrost your car!

Spray the solution on your windshield and you’ll see it’ll defrost immediately. This works because rubbing alcohol has a freezing point of -89 °C. You can keep the spray bottle with the mixture inside your car and it will never freeze.
