The 31-year-old suspect was arrested and charged after he reportedly choked his boyfriend to death during an argument over a video game. The suspect then called authorities and told them that the victim was sleeping on the couch. According to reports, the 28-year-old victim was a popular social media influencer and comedian who had garnered more than 200,000 followers on TikTok, 10,000 subscribers on YouTube and 63,000 followers on Instagram.

The 31-year-old man from Michigan, Docquen Watkins, was arrested on Friday. He is now charged with second-degree murder for killing his 28-year-old boyfriend and social media star Rory Teasley, according to reports.

On Jan. 6, the responding deputies reportedly found the 28-year-old victim unresponsive lying on a couch inside the residence. The suspect called 911 and told the dispatcher that he and his boyfriend had gotten into a fight over a video game.

He also told the dispatcher that his boyfriend was sleeping on the couch. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to reports.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim and the suspect reportedly got into an argument while playing a video game. The altercation then escalated, turning into a physical confrontation and the suspect reprotedly choked the victim to death.

“We see far too often across the country these days when people resort to violence over trivial and insignificant disagreements. There is never a reason where violence is acceptable over a disagreement. Those who do so will be held accountable.”
