CHATTANOOGA, Tenn – We are just a couple of days away from the Thanksgiving holiday.

If you head to any grocery store in the Tennessee Valley, you might notice a crowd of people getting those last-minute items.

Cary Anselmeant is the store manager at the Food City off Tennessee Ave. in Chattanooga.

He said it sounds like customers will be changing their traditional plans amid the coronavirus pandemic.

It comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released guidelines for gathering on Thanksgiving.

“I was talking to another lady earlier about a lady that was going to make a meal at the house and they was going to have a virtual thanksgiving dinner with some family that would usually come in and visits with them,” Anselmeant said.

He said they have also spoken to customers who have turned to technology to hold virtual gatherings with loved ones.

“I was talking to another lady earlier about a lady that was going to make a meal at the house and they was going to have a virtual thanksgiving dinner with some family that would usually come in and visits with them,” Anselmeant said.

Overall, it sounds like people will be having smaller gatherings this year.
