Chattanooga, TN – According to the statement, the Chattanooga Fire Department sent search and rescue teams, hazmat personnel, and incident management team members to support recovery efforts in these hard-hit areas over the past few weeks.
Operations Chief Rick Boatwright played a key role in coordinating the response in Erwin and Unicoi County, working with local leaders and the State Incident Management Team from the initial rescue phase to mobilizing resources in affected areas.
The Chattanooga/Hamilton County Hazmat Team also provided essential support by containing hazardous materials, such as oil and gas, leaking from submerged vehicles in the storm’s aftermath.
Additionally, Chattanooga firefighters teamed up with other agencies to search through debris for victims.
The CFD’s work highlighted the spirit of collaboration and resilience, with their efforts making a significant impact during the early stages of recovery.
As the communities in Northeast Tennessee face a long road ahead, the CFD, along with other Tennesseans, remain in solidarity with those affected.
