Chattanooga, TN – According to the statement, the CDC and FDA recommended a pause in administration of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine to investigate reports of potentially dangerous blood clots.
There were 6 reported cases of those blood clots out of almost 7 million J&J vaccines already distributed in the U.S.
The clots occurred in veins that drain blood from the brain and occurred together with low platelets. All six cases were in women between the ages of 18 and 48.
The officials have reported that the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines the county already has will expire on June 13th and June 23rd. They will be used if the FDA and CDC later decide that the vaccine is safe.
