Chattanooga, TN – According to the TDA officials, this project, which aims to replace existing wooden bridges with more durable structures to support forest management, will be carried out in three phases.

Phase one is set to begin on August 26, focusing on Bridge 2. During this period, the public will still have access to the forest by crossing Bridge 1 and then turning onto the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service (USFS) Road #225101, also known as Chestnut Ridge Road.

Phase two, expected to commence in mid-September, will involve the replacement of Bridge 1. As a result, the north access via Gulf Road will be temporarily closed during this phase.

However, access to the forest from the south will remain unaffected, with visitors encouraged to use USFS Roads #2250, #2251, and #225101, accessible from Exit 7 on I-40 near the North Carolina border.

Phase three of the project is scheduled for spring 2025, with further details to be provided in the coming year.
